Washington and Oregon
Since Zac is obsessed with the ABC's right now, I thought I'd write about our
fun family vacation using the "ABC's."
A is for A wonderful vacation!
B is for beaches- We spent a few days along the Oregon coast, which was absolutely beautiful! We loved the drive along the coast, and we had a great time at the beaches. Zac had so much fun playing in the sand and water (when it wasn't too cold for him). He also loved playing catch with his dad on the beach. We even got to have a bonfire on the beach one night!
C is for the 
waterfalls! 
D is for deer- We saw quite a few on the San Juan Islands...one
came right up to our car.
E is for eagles- While on our whale watching trips in the San Juan Islands, we also got to see lots of bald eagles! There are lots that live there in the forests and trees.
F is for Family Fun- We had such a great time together as a family!
G is for green- We have never seen so many beautiful green pine trees in our lives! Everywhere we went, the roads were lined with green --forests, trees, flowers, etc. Such a nice change from Vegas!
H is for harbors- We got to see lots of cute little harbors full of boats. The San Juan Island harbors were very picturesque. Zac loved seeing all the boats. 
I is for islands- We spent 3 days on the beautiful San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington. We loved it there!
J is for jumping- We call Zac our little "jumping bean." No matter where we were, he'd find a good spot to climb up and jump from. At the beach, Matt would dig him a hole, and he'd run and jump in over and over. If there was a pile of sand or a log, he'd climb up and jump off again and again. Even as we'd walk around, he'd be jumping along.
K is for kites- In Lincoln City, the wind on the beach makes it perfect for flying kites. Zac loved watching them flying up high in the sky. We saw someone with an orca whale kite, and Zac was sooo excited. Matt and I talked about getting one, and after that Zac kept saying "buy kite!" "whale kite!" We did find one and had fun flying it together.
L is for lighthouses- We saw lots of cute lighthouses along the coast and on the San Juan Islands. Our favorite was at Lime Kiln Point on San Juan ; we even got to climb up to the top and look out over the ocean.
M is for many waterfalls- We saw so many beautiful waterfalls--at the Columbia River Gorge, Snoqualmie Falls outside of Seattle, and more throughout the islands. Each was very beautiful.
N is for nice weather- The weather was so pretty--in the 70's-- everywhere we went. It felt soooo nice outside; it was nice to be able to drive with our windows unrolled and to wear a jacket in the mornings and evenings! We were not excited to get back to the Vegas heat!
O is for ocean- Of course, we loved being near the ocean and going to the beach.
P is for Portland.
Q is for quiet airport- We loved how nice and quiet the Portland Airport was!
R is for rides on boats- We got to go on several boat rides--the Washington State Ferry that took us to the islands, and then two whale watching boats. Zac loved the boats and now associates boats with seeing whales.
S
T is for Tillamook Cheese Factory We stopped and got cheese and icecream at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Yum!
U is for umbrella- Good thing we packed one, just in case! We got a little bit of rain in Seattle, but we still had a good time and it cleared up by the afternoon.
V is for Vancouver, WA- We stayed in Vancouver, WA (just outside of Portland), with some friends for the first couple of days. It was a beautiful place and we had lots of fun seeing the sites, enjoying the cool weather, and relaxing.
W is forWhales/whale watching- This was the highlight of our trip--going whale watching and following along with a pod of orca/killer whales for a couple of hours. We also spent hours watching the whales from shore at Lime Kiln Point on San Juan Island. They were incredible to watch; Zac LOVED the whales and talks about them jumping out of the water. Every time we saw water, he'd asked for whales!
X is for "xcellent"view from Orcas Island.
Y is for "Yea!"- This was Zac's excited exclamation every time a whale jumped out of the water, along with clapping his hands. It was also what he said every time they threw a fish at Pikes Place Fish Market.
Z is for Zac.

What a fun trip!! It was fun seeing all those cute pictures. You're blog looks great! I think whale watching would be so fun. I'm hoping we'll get to do that when we're in Hawaii. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I would love to visit the Oregon coast some day. I can't believe how big Zac is getting!!! Take care!!!
I can't belive you visited all the most beautiful places in the Northwest! It has taken us nearly 13 years to see everything you saw on one vacation. We were just talking about whether or not we take this great place for granted(we don't). Even with all the rain we still find it the most beautiful place in the world, although Paris runs a close second! Lara Humble, Seattle area resident since 1995(Rachel Corbett's sister)
